Course Information
Description Preparation for the state licensing examination.
Prerequisites First semester Courses: CSME 1553, CSME 1410, CSME 1501, CSME 2202
Learning Outcomes 1.Practices all and safety measures that protect individual and public health. (PSLO 2) measured by TDLR's requirements pertaining to disinfection, sanitation and sterilization.

2. Demonstrates proficiency in all cosmetology skills.(PSLO 3) measured by Arranging the hair into an up do style.

3. Demonstrates proficiency in all cosmetology skills.(PSLO 3) measured by Unit exam Chapter 16 Braiding.

4. Prepares to take State Board requirements (PSLO 2) measured by TDLR requirements with the state laws.


CSLO 1: Assemble practical state board bags with labels according to requirements of the exam.

CSLO 2: Verify the point system required to make a passing grade. Measured on written and practical assignments.
CSLO 3: Memorize and repeat the steps for each state board procedure.

I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person.

*Upon clocking in, all students must be in their assigned classroom or lab and on task at all times.*

* Every student MUST have a copy of the required textbooks by the second week of class. The student will still be responsible for any assignments given.

* Students are responsible for completing all assigned reading. Read over chapters PRIOR to class even if reading was not assigned.

* Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student course activity weekly.

* Class participation is required. It is important to be active within the course.

* Assignments and due dates are posted weekly in your course. Check your calendar; check the announcements; check your email; and check the To-Do List.

* Students are responsible for being prepared for class. The student is responsible for completing all assigned homework, including reading assignments, and doing so by required due dates.

Attendance Policy Regular class attendance is important to the attainment of the educational objectives of the college. The cosmetology program has formulated an attendance policy that is consistent with the objectives of the program and the needs of the student to fulfill all necessary requirements needed.

Face to Face Lab Time: 2 days a week for a total of 8 hours.
Online Theory / Lab: At least 2 hours a week.

Any days missed must be made up online through Blackboard, Microsoft Teams (Video Discussions), Quizlet/Quizlet Live etc.

Attendance will be monitored daily.

Attendance Documentation has to be available for the TDLR Inspector to show theory and practical skills, online and face to face.

Special Assignments and Attendance is 15% of your over all grade

Exams: Make-up exams will NOT be given. All exams must be taken on the day that it is assigned and with in the time frame listed. Students should adhere to the time as if you were taking it face to face.
